Yes, I worked on this! I was part of one team (out of two) rushing to implement the new TechCrunch design. I contributed several javascript modules, helped extend the default Wordpress functionality, and added various css / html tweaks and structure. This is where the second iteration of my 3-state sticky Column plugin appeared.
